The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has just released its monthly visa bulletin for June 2012.  The bulletin provides cutoff dates for processing of immigrant visas or adjustments of status for individuals who are approved and waiting for visa availability.

DHS announces expanded list of STEM degree programs

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) last week announced an expanded list of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) degree programs that qualify eligible graduates on student visas for an optional practical training (OPT) extension.

The USCIS has issued an updated H-1B cap count for fiscal year 2013. 32,500 of 65,000 visas available under the "regular" cap have been used, while 13,700 of 20,000 have been used under the "master's cap".

The USCIS has issued an updated H-1B cap count for fiscal year 2013. 29,200 of 65,000 visas available under the "regular" cap have been used, while 12,300 of 20,000 have been used under the "master's cap".

ICE amends Secure Communities program to reduce deportations after minor traffic stops

The Department of Homeland Security says that fewer illegal immigrants stopped by police for minor traffic violations will be held for deportation under changes the Secure Communities program.
