F-1 and M-1 Student Visas

The United States has long believed in the importance of education and allowing foreign nationals to study in the U.S.  The nonimmigrant student visa category was created to fulfill this purpose. One of the visas in this particular category is the F visa, with its subcategories of F-1, F-2 and F-3. The F-1 visa is an academic student visa, as well as a visa for students in language training programs. The F-2 visa allows spouses and children to join their F-1 relative, while the F-3 is for part-time commuter students from Canada or Mexico.

Similar to the F visa, there is the M visa. With its subcategories of M-1, M-2 and M-3. The M-1 visa is a vocational student visa, as well as a visa for other nonacademic schools. The M-2 visa allows spouses and children to join their M-1 relative, while the M-3 is for part-time commuter students from Canada or Mexico.
