Classical Musician Work/Travel ApprovalPublished: Friday, June 14, 2013
Immigration Law Associates has assisted a number of musicians to work and live in the U.S, from pop singers to classical instrumentalists. We were recently successful in the case of a classical clarinetist seeking O-1 status. This nonimmigrant category, which allows the visa holder to work, requires evidence of "extraordinary ability." In the case of many occupations, including musicians, it also requires an advisory letter from a union evaluating the applicant's credentials. Our client's OPT was expiring, and he needed visa approval to perform his scheduled international concert dates. We were able to secure the needed documentation, and visa approval, to allow for the planned travel. As the visa is good for three years, our client's web site now displays upcoming performances through 2011.
