Obtaining Permanent Residency As An L-1A Manager Or Executive
Managers and executives that meet the L-1 visa requirements have a road to permanent residency. They are considered "priority workers" and fall into the EB-1 preference category. Those that fall into this category are exempt from having to file a labor certification, making the road to residency a step shorter. Additionally, L-1 managers and executives do not need to show nonimmigrant intent. This means that they do not have to show that they do not intend to immigrate to the U.S. or maintain a residence abroad while in the U.S. However, if their stay expires and a green card has not been granted, they must leave the U.S. while waiting for approval.
